Teacher (Horticulture) based in Penley, Wrexham, offering a salary of £23,000 - £26,000 (dependent on specialist qualifications).

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teacher (Horticulture) to join our College satellite.  You will be required to plan and deliver taught and work experience sessions with learners with high or complex needs.  You will also support the general maintenance of the grounds and gardens.

The key responsibilities for the Teacher are:

  • Lead / assist in the delivery of the vocational and extended curriculum including the embedding of functional skills.
  • Operational involvement within the provision remit, with a focus on leading horticultural operations.
  • Assist in learner action planning – attending Provision meetings.
  • Plan and prepare appropriate learning materials (in consultation with the Provision Manager).
  • Supporting students within work experience sessions (internal and external placements).
  • Administration work relating to teaching / supporting - learner records, lesson plans, database recording, assessment of student progress.
  • A personal tutor or mentor.
  • Use multimedia technology as a teaching aid, including assisting students to use specialist equipment
  • Facilitate and promote student social and subject learning integration/inclusion within peer group.
  • To support the Provision Manager with the annual Self-Assessment Report.
  • Developing bespoke programmes as needed. 
  • Safeguarding awareness and promote the welfare of young vulnerable adults

Person Specification:

  • Teaching qualification / Specialist Qualification
  • Subject specific qualification relevant to Horticulture
  • Relevant Industry Sector/ commercial knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of Ofsted framework/ external quality standards
  • Knowledge of accreditation and RARPA
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks /projects
  • Highly motivated and proactive individual
  • Proven success of working within a similar role
  • Outstanding communication skills with individuals/ staff at all levels
  • Competent in MS Office
