The Ruskin Mill Trust Group operates schools and colleges, children’s homes and care homes in Birmingham, Horsley (Gloucestershire), Pembrokeshire, Sheffield, Clent, Stourbridge and Darlington.  The Trust provides innovative and experiential education and care for children, young people and adults with special learning needs, developed out of the inspiration of Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin.

TRUST HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER

£47,895.00 to £56,084.00 per annum (subject to experience and qualifications)

Located in any of our sites, however, there will be a full expectation to travel to the others sites on a regular basis and as required.

This new role has been created to ensure that the Trust’s unique vision and its innovative approach to education and residential care continues to comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements regarding Health and Safety practice and procedures.

The successful candidate will understand the importance of enabling individuals to take the risks that will enhance their learning and personal development while ensuring that all risks are appropriately assessed and managed. If you can only work in black and white then this role is not for you.

In this role, you will be responsible for the review, development, implementation and monitoring of good practice in Health and Safety across the whole of Ruskin Mill Trust, to ensure the safety of staff, students, visitors and contractors, in line with current Health and Safety and associated legislation. You will provide advice and support to the Trust’s school, college and residential care leaders as well as enhancing the skills, knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety Leads who work in each of the Trust’s centres.

You will have appropriate experience of operating in a similar role within a medium/large organisation; have a NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent, ideally a NEBOSH Diploma; have experience of delivering training; and experience of managing a diverse workload and meeting strict deadlines

You must be well organised and have a good eye for detail, as well as an ability to take a strategic overview of the Health and Safety issues across the Trust. You will be able to work independently but within the framework of a dispersed and multi-layered team.

In terms of personal characteristics, we would expect the successful candidate to be adaptable and flexible to the requirements of the role, show initiative and self-leadership, have a high level of personal resilience, and good communication skills.

In return, we offer significant personal development opportunities to work within a holistic organisation that is complex and growing.  An Interactive induction is provided with the opportunity to try out crafts/student experience.

Closing date: Friday, 2nd November 2018     Interviews will be held on Friday, 16th November 2018
