Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor

We are looking for an Interim / Temporary Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor working in Engineering (Fabrication, large machining and large structure build) for our Aerospace business based in Wythenshawe with some travel to other sites and locations in Chester.

1. The writing and maintenance of all Health and Safety processes and documentation including risk assessments, machinery checks, alarm testing, COSHH assessments, hazard, near miss and accident reporting etc.
2. Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
3. Health Surveillance on site.
4. Drafting of new policies/procedures or corrections to existing ones.
5. Organising and carrying out regular audits and checks on Health, Safety and Environmental aspects in line with ISO 14001 requirements. Providing expertise to guide the Company in implementation of any changes required to meet the standards required.
6. Organising and, where appropriate, delivering Health, Safety and Environmental training.
7. Responding to H&S and Environmental issues such as assessing potential unforeseen hazards, investigating accidents etc.
8. Control of Contractors on site; issue and control of permits and compliance to health and safety regulations.
9. Health & Safety inductions on site for all new employees, trainees and contractors.
10. Advising the Site Managers and other employees on Health and Safety issues to ensure compliance with ISO 14001.
11. Conducting regular internal audits against required standards and creating action plans to bridge any potential shortfalls.
12. Assisting external auditors with their requirements when they are on site.
13. Keeping up to date with Health, Safety & Environmental developments as well as any changes to the relevant standards.
14. The promotion of Continuous Improvement within the site for Health, Safety and Environmental issues and the enhancement of these aspects in the culture of the business
