Formative Content is a rapidly growing, award winning,  content marketing agency, with a global client base that has quadrupled in size in the last two years. We are looking for an experienced Account Director to work closely with our founders and client services team to help grow our burgeoning agency.

We help tell our clients’ stories – primarily in the B2B arena and often highly complex and specialised – and share them across multiple social media platforms at high volume and with a close attention to detail. We are former journalists, relentless about process, detail and delivering for our growing client base.

Position Statement

The purpose of the Account Director position is to develop a hands on relationship at a senior executive level with clients.  Formative Content Account Directors are committed to developing innovative digital content that inspires and motivates clients.  The Account Director team ensure the smooth production of campaigns - from briefing designers and copywriters to managing budgets and leading any direct reports.

Responsibilities and Key Tasks:

  • To be the main point of contact for all client issues and queries relating to your accounts
  • Manage and grow key client accounts, delivering to campaigns and contracts while keeping billable hours on track across the team.
  • Attend key client meetings, offering strategic guidance and advice. Share insight with delivery teams to ensure objectives are met
  • To be directly responsible for the overall strategy on your accounts and the profitable retention and growth of our existing business
  • Oversee all activity for your accounts and various campaigns including budgets, research, data, client servicing, digital and marketing
  • Identify and drive forward new initiatives and business development opportunities within client organisations
  • Ensure that all our work is delivered on brief, on budget and to schedule
  • Provide support on, and oversight of all clients to ensure timely delivery and client satisfaction through effective management and leadership of the team
  • Build client relationships at senior level to assist in developing growth
  • Build internal relationships at senior level to facilitate efficient working practices
  • Produce accurate estimates and quotes, report on performance against budget.
  • Provide an escalation point to the teams working on the client projects
  • Where appropriate, make a direct, positive contribution to the creation of new business documents and pitches
  • Work alongside any other internal service teams: production, digital and social etc to ensure efficient and effective delivery

 

Skills, Attributes and Qualifications

  • Experience directing client accounts at Account Director level
  • A strong and demonstrable interest in current political, economic and social events with the ability to translate into fact-packed content and corporate journalism.
  • Ability to successfully organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
  • History of developing client accounts in terms of output, efficiency and profitability
  • Previous experience with international clients or on international accounts with the understanding of the rewards and complexities accompanying big brands.
  • Effective track record and experience in publishing and/or digital environment
  • Team player with strong management and leadership skills and experience
  • Ability to operate with speed, flexibility and creativity
  • Financially literate with a thorough understanding of budgetary and management accounting process
  • Credibility and ability to build strong and effective relationships at all levels, internally and externally
  • Educated to degree level and any relevant qualifications
