NGN has an exciting opportunity for a Designer to join our Commercial department on a 2-year fixed-term contract, based in Leeds.

The Opportunity:

The Designer ultimately provides replacement designs for new work across the whole network; identifying 'at risk' pipes, issuing these to the clusters and also working on re-scopes that are discovered on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the production of NGN's annual mains replacement design workload ensuring TOTEX principles are adhered to
  • Provide technical support for the development of NGN's replacement strategy
  • Provide accurate and timely maintenance of MRP, ArcMap, MRPS, Synergi and SAP applications
  • Undertake Network Analysis for the Design Team utilising the Synergi application ensuring NGN's statutory obligations are met along with stakeholder and commercial considerations
  • Utilising MRP software undertake a project designer role for both strategy and within year projects
  • Prepare and utilise GIS data layers to assist with project designs on MRP
  • Liaise with external companies to explore opportunities for new innovation/technology to ensure an optimum project scope is designed for construction
  • To ensure the safe and secure operation of NGN's assets, there may be a requirement to provide out of hours Network Analysis support to operational staff
  • Provide regular updates from systems to monitor team progress against targets

About You:

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Work to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of gas network up to and including 7bar including materials used, pressure regimes and pressure reduction equipment
  • Demonstrate an ability for resolving analytical problems
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong team player with ability to work on own initiative
  • Experience in the interpretation of maps, design drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge and experience in project design principles

Desirable

  • Knowledge of gas mains and service laying techniques
  • Member of IGEM or working towards
  • Experience of using MRPS, MRP and Synergi systems
  • Knowledge of ArcMap software or similar graphical based products (GIS)

What we Offer:

2-year fixed-term, Personal Contract

£28,000 - £30,000 (dependent upon experience)

Up to 5% bonus - personal & corporate objectives

25 days holiday, plus 8 days bank holiday

Stakeholder Pension Scheme 5/10 or existing scheme if already a member
