Communications and Engagement Officer Collaboration - One Year Fixed Term
Salary: £31,401- £36,153 per annum
Location – Service Headquarters, Calcot, Reading

An excellent opportunity has arisen within Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service for an experienced Communications and Engagement Officer to join our team on a one year fixed-term contract. You will be responsible for developing and delivering a proactive and effective communications and engagement service in support of the Thames Valley Collaboration Programme. You will be working with Programme and Project Leads from across the Thames Valley Fire and Rescue services as well as our other blue light partners.
The key focus of this role is:
- Communicate the strategic intention of the Thames Valley Collaboration Programme to ensure this is effectively communicated across partner organisations
- Provision of communication and engagement support for our collaboration projects ensuring comprehensive communication plans are developed and delivered
- Writing and developing engaging content in support of the programme
- Proactively seek out opportunities to communicate the success of the programme on a national level
- Liaison with the Communication Teams of our partner organisations ensuring they receive timely, accurate and engaging information
- Management of collaborative events liaising across partners ensuring appropriate publicity and representation
Key role requirements:
- High standard of verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of communications and engagement theory and practice
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across a wide range of people including Senior Managers, the public and political leaders
- Excellent self-management and organisational skills to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- Strong IT skills in MS office and other multimedia packages
- Ability to provide creative and innovative solutions to problems
