The Clervaux Trust is a registered charity that works with some of the most disadvantaged and disenfranchised young people and adults in the North East, including those excluded from school and those needing long term care due to learning disabilities, mental health issues or complex social needs. Applications are invited for the role of Residential Support Worker based near Darlington.

Holistic Support Worker

Grade 4:5 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary Range £17,550 to £20,643 (this includes market supplement)

Sleep overs are paid at £70.50 per night

 

You will be part of a team which provides consistent support to a number of residents with learning difficulties across both the day and residential provision. You will support the residents access education, social enterprise opportunities during the day and then support them in a home life setting during the evenings and weekends.

This role may be required to provide personal care and work alongside young people with challenging behaviours. You will have responsibility for promoting and ensuring the safety, care, well-being, learning and development of the residents, to enable their growth in confidence and social and practical skills. You will be working on a shift basis working during the day, evenings and weekends.

The key duties of this role will include:

  • The supervision and support of service users in their day time activities/work experience and also residential settings with a range of domestic activities such as cooking, shopping, cleaning and laundry.
  • Completion of relevant paperwork is required.

     The requirements of this role are:

  • Ideally you will be an experienced support worker who has worked in a day or residential setting and worked with young people with challenging behaviours.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, as well as experience of report writing and record keeping.
  • You will also be expected to attend training sessions/courses as required in order for you to understand the methods of the Trust as well as statutory guidance.

    There will be extensive training opportunities offered in this role to enable your own personal development and obtain further qualifications.
