We are seeking a strong experienced BI focused business analyst to join our MIS team within our Product Development department.  In an Agile environment, you will be responsible for working with the product owner in creating and analysing stories, epics and themes as part of the backlog refinement process for developing a high-quality sustainable data platform, strategy and governance which supports the business in achieving double digit growth, and protects the future. You will also be a key factor in requalifying the mind-set of the organisation to value data as the central component of all products

What the BI Analyst will be doing:


At Solera, we believe in providing clarity and focus to what are volunteers are responsible for – their mission. The 80’s, as we call them at Solera, are the employee’s priorities associated with their role or mission. The mission 80’s for this role, are:

BI Development:

  • Provide product design and analytical deliverables in support of the 3 pillars of the BI Mission: Stabilise and protect the current MI delivery suites, to ensure they can continue to deliver mission critical output, and support the business today.
  • Plan, develop and deliver a strategic replacement MI solution for the UK, wherever possible leveraging 30/30 opportunities with global and EMEA teams, enabling the UK to take every opportunity to commercialise data and to support data science initiatives.
  • Develop and socialise a data strategy and data governance program, which is embedded into all Product Agile teams, enabling consistency to support the new MI solution and provide new commercial opportunities.
  • Work as a key driver within an agile squad delivering BI services to internal and external stakeholders (finance, business development and account managers, product owners, as well as end user customers, suppliers and partners)
  • Support the other members of the squad to ensure that all aspects of a sprint deliverable are complete including story refinement, development, acceptance and review.

  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of emerging technologies and the benefits that applying them can bring to your specialisation
  • Utilise and contribute to the MIS processes to maximise sustainable and effective product development
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of data assets throughout the organization and contribute to ideas leading to the ability to maximize its potential value to the business

BI Analyst Quality Deliverable:

  • Take accountability for the quality of the delivered product ensuring that appropriate data delivery lifecycle procedures are followed
  • Invest in data governance practices to ensure the data asset is accurate, complete, appropriate and consistent 

BI Analyst Primary Requirements:

  • Analytical skills in relation to data warehousing projects
  • Agile processes and ceremonies
  • Data modelling and mapping (source to target)
  • Stakeholder management
  • Knowledge of data warehousing practices and architecture
  • Knowledge of reporting and dashboarding solutions or services
  • Understanding of ETL processes and tools
  • Data analysis using SQL

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Apache Big Data projects and their application (Hadoop, Hive, Oozie, Spark etc)
  • Knowledge of HortonWorks products and services
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools and services
  • Experience of JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience of data dictionary and data lineage tools
  • Experience of working in a target driven and revenue focussed business

Travel to EMEA may be required occasionally, out of hours monitoring and support of deployed processes may be requested periodically
