SENIOR TUTOR / FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

£27,213.00 – £31,203.00 per annum

40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Based at Argent College, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham

Ruskin Mill Trust operates colleges and associated residential provisions in Gloucestershire, Pembrokeshire, Sheffield and the Midlands and an associated site in Darlington, as well as an independent specialist school in Sheffield.  We provide innovative and experiential education for children, young people and adults with special learning needs, developed out of the inspiration of Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin.

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Tutor to oversee a team of tutors and undertake the delivery of Functional Skills.

Main Duties:

  • To be the first line manager for a group of tutors;

 

 

  • To work closely with the tutors to develop schemes of work and plan sessions accordingly in order to interconnect craft activities throughout the provision;
  • To assess, plan and deliver a high quality functional skills program in literacy and numeracy to all students;
  • To conduct the initial and ongoing assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required minimising barriers to learning and achievement;
  • To undertake teaching duties and to deliver training as required;
  • Applicants must have experience of working with students with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities and have experience of teaching / training.

To undertake this position successfully you will have Level 5 subject specialist qualifications in literacy and/or numeracy, teaching qualification Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS or above, experience of teaching functional skills English and maths from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 (including GCSE), experience of assessing functional skills and experience of supporting people with dyslexia.
