Sunday Night Parcel Sorter/Loader-Basingstoke
Job Title: Parcel Sorter
Shift Pattern: 1am- 7.30am on SUNDAY NIGHTS ONLY
Job Type: Temporary, ongoing work
Pay rate: 8.50 per hour, payrise after 13 weeks to around £11 an hour
You will be required to attend a one time appointment in Southampton to complete essential paper work
Our client, a parcel delivery company are looking to recruit Parcel Sorters for ongoing contracts. Ideally you will have done this role before, but as a minimum applications will only be accepted from those who have a minimum of 6 months warehouse experience.
We are expecting this position to start in the next few weeks, and to continue until the end of the year right through to the end of the very busy Christmas period. The best workers will be retained for work in 2017, More hours will be available from September onwards
This is initially agency work , however as we get closer to Christmas, there will be work available every day.
The client requires flexibility towards shift patterns
Job role & responsibilities
ÂSorting items by hand into compartments on a sorting frame,
ÂOverseeing the automatic sorting process, ensuring that the machinery is in full working order,
ÂBagging and labelling mail for its destination
ÂMoving mail around the office between conveyor belts, loading docks and trolleys,
ÂMoving mailbags from cages, sorting mailbags and bundles of mail into cages,
ÂLoading and unloading wheeled containers from vehicles to the dispatch areas.
Loading vehicles/ vans ready for deliveries
ÂBe able to lift and carry mailbags and boxes weighing up to 20kg and to push containers weighing up to 250kg
ÂBe able to stand for long periods of time.
ÂHave a good grasp of the English Language both written and spoken
ÂHave previous experience in a similar position
ÂBe IT literate and confident in using scanners/ computers
Due to the nature of the role, the company requires an in depth security clearance check (we are unable to accept applications from anyone who has a criminal record for sexual offences, violence or theft/ fraud) and 5 years worth of address history will need to be provided.
