We are recruiting for an Early Years & Family Connector Fellow to assist the Chief Education Officer in developing and launching a new pilot nursery school which will provide outstanding education and eliminate educational inequality for children living on and around the Cambridge Road Estate, Norbiton, Kingston-upon-Thames.

Hours: 37.5 per week

Contract: 1 Year Fellowship contract, with scope for extension for the right candidate

Package: Up to £29,000 dependent on experience. NEST Pension Scheme. 25 days annual holiday plus public holidays. Travel to Winchester reimbursed.

Location: The candidate would need to be able to commit to working 2-3 days per week in Kings Worthy near Winchester (SO23 7TW, plus field work in the Kingston area (KT1)

Norbiton is the most deprived area of the Kingston-upon-Thames borough, and is within the 20% most deprived nationally. Figures published by Kingston council suggest that children from deprived backgrounds leave Foundation stage education as much as 20% behind other children.

The nursery project will use a combination of child-first pedagogical approaches, adopting elements of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Steiner and Forest School theories and will focus on holistically supporting the wellbeing of the children and their carers. It will provide the model for future development of the concept, rolling out to older age ranges and further locations.

This is an exciting role and a chance for a really entrepreneurial Early Years business professional to make their mark.

Person Specification

1.A recent graduate with knowledge of/experience of the Early Years setting. We would be particularly interested in hearing from graduates of Teach First, or candidates with experience of The Harlem's Children's Zone programmes.

2.A passion for and dedication to working with children and families and eliminating the achievement gap at an early stage.

3.Excellent ability to form contacts with the community and with parents and carers. Experience working in communities and building networks.

4.High level of personal initiative and an entrepreneurial spirit. Keen to take on problems and find solutions.

5.IT literate and able to use Microsoft Office suite

6.Hold a UK driver's license and car (there will be a need to travel to visit sites)

7.Willing to travel to our Foundation office just outside of Winchester.

Key Responsibilities

The Early Years and Family Connectors Fellow would be responsible for the following:

1.Locating a suitable site for the nursery school that is either on, or in very close proximity to, the Cambridge Road Estate in the borough of Kingston upon Thames.

2.Building on existing networks in the community. Specifically:
Key contacts within Kingston Council and Achieving for Children and other relevant local organisations.

Connecting with parents and carers on the Cambridge Road Estate initially by helping to run a Stay & Play' locally

3.Working closely with the Chief Education Officer to contribute to, and execute on, a sustainable business strategy.

4.Develop comprehensive market research regarding educational provision and outcomes for children living on the Cambridge Road Estate.

 5.Assist with general marketing of the Quadra Foundation. Able to attend conferences and meetings to network.

 6.Market the project and create and maintain an active profile on Facebook and Twitter.
