Contracts & Project Manager
The Rochester Bridge Trust is a charity which has provided crossings of the River Medway since 1399.
It is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the Rochester bridges and an extensive property portfolio as well as supporting education and conservation projects in engineering and heritage.
We are seeking an experienced Contracts & Project Manager to support the Chief Executive in managing projects and contracts for the bridges and property estate.
Initially a significant part of the role will be the overall project management of a major multi-million pound bridge refurbishment contract for the Trust as the client. The main contractor will be supervised by the Trust’s appointed structural engineers.
Managing the bridge refurbishment contract, ongoing maintenance contract and other works and services contracts within approved budgets.
Preparing specifications, managing the tendering process for new contracts, finalising contract documentation, and implementing suitable administration and control systems.
Working closely with professional advisers and developing strong relationships with key external stakeholders, and representing the Trust at external events.
Overseeing the Trust’s communications in relation to the bridges via Press and social media.
Essential skills and knowledge
A background in construction or civil engineering and substantial experience of contract and project management is essential.
Experience of using NEC 3 contracts is highly desirable or a willingness to undergo the necessary extensive training is essential.
You must hold a relevant graduate qualification and ideally project management qualifications, such as Prince 2 or APM project management.
