SSE is a FTSE 100 Company and one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK, with around 10 million customers across our various brands. SSE Energy Solutions focus on helping businesses achieve significant reductions in their buildings' energy consumption through Building Management Systems (BMS) and remote support via our Energy Management Centre.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial support to a number of large BMS design, supply and installation projects primarily in London and the South of England. We need you to professionally liaise with customers and their commercial teams, proactively working to ensure smooth delivery of projects and prevent and resolve commercial issues. You will support business units to manage variations, final account settlements and support pre and post contract meetings with customers and sub-contractors.

Using your detailed understanding of the contract associated with a project you'll prepare an on-going cost analysis including quantities of required materials, sub-contract services, substantiation and build up. Project risks should be identified, managed and documented to ensure successful completion.

You will have a university degree in surveying or mechanical, electrical engineering or have a professional accreditation from the Royal Institute for Chartered Surveyors. We'd like you to have performed a similar role in construction, M&E or BMS industries and have first class experience of administering standard construction contracts (NEC, JCT).

As the role has such a strong focus on costs you'll have impressive numeracy skills to handle the financial and mathematical demands. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are vital for you to succeed in this role. You'll be flexible and pragmatic with a passion for identifying effective business and commercial improvements. Travelling will be required and the role will require a mix of office and site based work.

In return, we can offer you a competitive salary package and excellent routes for career progression within the SSE Group. You will also enjoy an excellent pension, generous leave entitlement, and a car or cash allowance reflective of the role.

Closing date for applications is Tuesday 13th December 2016

Successful candidates will be subject to the Company's verification and vetting process. This includes a basic criminal record check.
