DBA - Database Administrator - MySQL, InnoDB, Enterprise e-commerce

My client is an online FMCG giant and require a Production DBA to join the team to work on enterprise level E-commerce platforms which span a cross continental network.

The company has a fast paced, vibrant environment and due to quick release cycles feels like it is always in start up mode although it is very well established. They believe in hard work but see hard work as fun and like to be constantly challenged to produce cutting edge products.

The role would ideally suit someone who can solve problems by thinking outside the box and enjoys working in a collaborative, team environment. There will be the need to monitor and improve existing databases as well as offering expertise in project teams. The ideal candidate will have an open minded approach to data storage strategies and will have excellent communication skills to be able to interact cross departmentally within the business.

Responsibilities

- Manage MySQL in Development/Staging/Production environments including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades and schema changes.
- Database health monitoring and diagnostics
- Integrate monitoring, auditing, and alert systems for databases with existing monitoring infrastructure
- Manage user database privileges
- Out of hours on-call on a rota basis to resolve live issues On-call duties are shared within the Team.
- Work very closely with other members of the team and be an active contributing member of the company.

Skills and Experience

- Problem solving, testing, and systems troubleshooting skills
- Tuning experience with MySQL, particularly InnoDB
- SQL optimisation
- Percona, xtrabackup and percona-toolkit
- IT security, backup, recovery and archival concepts and procedures
- Linux experience
- Experience with Mariadb Galera Cluster
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical employees and with vendors of system related products
- Willingness to periodically question the status quo and weight in new approaches
- Ability to work with multi-locations teams (France and UK)
