This company are a family-run construction and building services firm based in Aston, Birmingham. Having been established for the past 40 years they have expertise in the entire-life cycle of building projects. From inception to design, construction and maintenance.

The have a considerable forward pipeline of 40 million and now require a dedicated health and safety professional to be part of the management team.

The main role=of the manager will be to provide a professional health and safety service, including site inspections, risk assessment and safe working practices, investigations and representation of the health and safety function within the business.

He / She will work closely with the Contract Manager who will assist with building the strategy to ensure delivery of the overall health and safety objectives.

Main responsibilities will include carrying out an agreed programme of visits to sites to advise and monitor health and safety progress. While the majority of sites are in the Birmingham area, there will be a requirement from time to time to visit other current sites throughout the Midlands.

Help to ensure that the ongoing requirements assessments are being carried out on site.

Contribute to and help to implement health and safety initiatives within the business.

Carry out and help in devising toolbox talks and other health and safety briefings.

Investigate accidents and incidents and complete written reports.

Assist in representing the company to outside bodies in health and safety matters.

Assist in the delivery of training and awareness programmes for staff within the business.

Ensure that legal and statutory requirements of health and safety including codes of practices are followed.

Necessary skills and experience

Minimum qualification is NEBOSH construction certificate;

Minimum of three years' construction work experience.

A good understanding of Steel frame building and Student accommodation is an advantage; however

Good communication skills.

Ability to use IT as required
